When the data from Figure 6.4 are summarised by gender the above is the result. Female students have a consistently higher mean at all ages. Unsurprisingly the general phenomena of the original model (age patterns, kick-ups and tails) carry through to the gender view. This view is considered to be a reasonable approximation of the gender view of (test measured) learning status with age.
