When a gender perspective is provided for the Numeracy Test Data Model,
there is almost no difference in the means at each age until Year
levels 6, 7 and 8. The Year 6 data are a blend of Year 5 and 7 thus
ameleorating the effect of each Year level on the model data. The Year 8 data are derived from the
Year 7 population and thus both Year 7 and Year 8 are the same.
The model building process is described in Chapter 6. (The
gender effect at higher Year levels is an artefact of the sources of
the data: the effect is derived from real data at Year 5
and 7 levels only.)
